INGREDIENTS:  DEXTROSE, WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE, FRUCTOSE, NATURAL PEPPERMINT FLAVOR, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, CALCIUM STEARATE.

Muscle Mints are designed to optimize aerobic exercise performance by SUSTAINING it and to speed RECOVERY from exercise by reducing muscle damage during exercise. Consumption of this product, which contains a mixture of two types of carbohydrates and whey protein, BEFORE AND DURING exercise will provide an outside source of carbohydrate and protein and reduce the reliance on fuel sources within the body, which will extend the time to exhaustion during aerobic exercise. The PROTEIN in the mint reduces damage to muscle tissue. Muscle Mints are a CONVENIENT, easy to carry source of protein and carbohydrates in advantageous proportions for people who are exercising to use. The blend of TWO types of CARBOHYDRATES along with a WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE provides the body with the necessary nutrients to reduce the breakdown of muscle.  Muscle Mints contain dextrose and fructose as the carbohydrate ingredients. The dextrose breaks down in the intestines and is transported into the circulatory system as glucose by glucose transporters. Fructose is transported by its own transporter, thus increasing the rate of carbohydrate uptake and producing a greater reliance on fuel from outside sources during exercise. The whey protein isolate contains all of the essential amino acids to reduce muscle breakdown and recover. The mints also contain calcium, magnesium and potassium to replace ELECTROLYTES lost during exercise.

No harmful artificial colors or flavoring.  An easy to carry, ALL NATURAL snack that enhances physical activity and recovery.

Question: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answer:

Q:  What is Whey Protein?
A: Whey protein is a high quality protein powder from cow's milk. Milk has two proteins: Casein (approximately 80%) and Whey Protein (approximately 20%). Whey protein is more soluble than casein and also has a higher quality rating. It is often referred to as the "Gold Standard" of protein as it is the most nutritious protein available.

Composition of Whole Milk - Water 87%, Solids 13%

Composition of Milk Solids - Fat 30%, Lactose 37%, Protein 27%, Ash/Minerals 6%

Composition of Milk Protein - Whey Protein 20%, Casein 80%

Q: Why do I need protein?

A:
Protein is an important nutrient needed by everyone of a daily basis. It is made up of essential and non-essential amino acids, which are the "building blocks" for healthy bodies. Protein has a number of different roles in the body including the following:

  • Repair body cells
  • Build and repair muscles and bones
  • Provide a source of energy
  • Control many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism
Q: How are essential and non-essential amino acids different?

A: The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods. Protein sources that contain all of the essential amino acids are called complete proteins. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein.

Q: How much protein does a person need each day?Daily Protein Calculator

A: Protein needs vary by person depending upon age, weight, sex, activity level and overall health. Athletes and individuals with special medical needs often need more protein than the recommended dietary allowance, or RDA.

Q: Is whey protein good for athletes and people who exercise?

Branched Chain Amino Acids A: Whey protein is a high quality, complete protein, with all the essential amino acids. Whey protein is also the richest known source of naturally occurring branched chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine). These are important for active individuals, individuals who exercise and professional athletes. The body requires higher amounts of branched chain amino acids during and following exercise as they are taken up directly by the skeletal muscles versus first being metabolized through the liver, like other amino acids. Low BCAA levels contribute to fatigue and they should be replaced in one-hour or less following exercise or participation in a competitive event. Many athletes consume a source of whey protein both before and immediately after exercise or an event to help repair and rebuild lean muscle tissue.
